Hello World
“Hello World”. The most profound two words in computer science. Really this post should be titled “Hello Again” as it represents my return to blogging after a decade of hiatus.
2006 - 2013
From 2006 through 2013 I shared tips and tricks I learned along the way building all kinds of software. Eventually, I got tired of folks in the comments section essentially asking me to help them out with their specific issue for free. I like to give back since I’m only where I’m at because of what others have shared on-line, but there was a line that got crossed where I was engineering for free and I made the difficult decision to shutdown my blog.
2013 - 2023
2013 was a renaissance for me personally in many ways. Including formally creating Conrad Research LLC to be a holding company for all of the software work I was doing at the time. Since 2013, I’ve built many interesting things for others and have contributed to many, many open source projects.
2024 & beyond
2024 is a new chapter in the history of Conrad Research. This will be the year we start to ship our own applications built by us and for us. We want to “pay it forward” and blog about our experiences along the way including interesting technical lessons learned that others may find useful. One key difference from my early blogging will be the absence of a comments section in the hopes that’ll help avoid blogging burnout so that we can stay committed to blogging for the long haul.
So here’s to blogging again. Cheers 🥂
